Flying Ferrari? Fabulous? Frightening?
Moller International has designed a “flying” car using a Ferrari GTB as the base and expects to release it commercially within the next two years.
The vehicle is said to have the the ability to take off vertically and hover by using eight powerful thrusters which direct air down for take off. It is also capable of forward motion, enabled by small vanes in the exit area of the ducts that direct the air forward or back. The ‘Autovolantor’, as it has be christened, will be able to fly at 150mph and altitude of around 3000ft says the design team from Moller International.
Seems like science fiction is turning into fact too fast these days. A flying car would be a dream come true for many, but just looking at the kind of driving we see on ground these days will make many to feel weak in the knees. It surely is a frightening prospect. Thankfully for those in the latter category, Moller International has somewhat of a dubious reputation of not delivering on their promises. We’ll see one way or the other in a couple of years.
