A.R.Rahman or A.R.Rehman or A.R.Rahaman or…
I was looking at the Google trends for today ( 23rd February), and was sure that A.R.Rahman would top the list. What with the entire country buzzing about the musical maestro from India - be it before getting those two oscars or after.
But once I went there and saw that A.R.Rahman came in at number 5 ( in the google.co.in page). I was pretty shocked. But a closer examination of the list gave me the full story. There was various versions of A.R.Rahman in the list. Rahma, Rehman, Rahaman were all there. And of course, combination like ar rahman, a r rahman, etc came separately in the list. If those were combined, I am sure Rahman, ahem, would have topped the list. In the international Google Trends page, Rahman came in at 57, with two other versions in the list.
Well, the reason for this post is that, there has always been confusions about the his name’s spelling. I myself used to write it as Rehman and now I use the Rahman version. So all you people out there who are still doubtfull whether it is Rahman or Rehman or Rahaman, note that his name is A.R.Rahman.
Anyway, it doesnt matter how we spell his name. Rahman or Rehman, he is a genius and has made India proud. And with his “Ella Pughazum Eraivanukke” at the biggest stage for film professionals, he just brought tears to my eyes. Truly, Ella Pugazhum Eraivanukku and Rehman, oops, Rahmanukke!
